On Wednesday afternoon each class had a Christmas party, children also got the chance to change into their own clothes. The children loved to join in the party games such as:
They then enjoyed the lovely buffet that was kindly supplied by the Cross Keys. After that they had a surprise visit from Santa Claus who gave all the children individual gifts.
Children and staff all enjoyed their Christmas lunch on Tuesday this week. They loved pulling the Christmas crackers to discover what was inside.

Class 1 have taken part in an International Christmas Decoration exchange. We made decorations from salt dough and sent them to 21 schools all over Europe and have received decorations from them. It was exciting to open the packages and find a lovely Christmas decoration from Countries ranging from Germany, France, Austria, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Tenerife, Poland, Romania and Greece. Everyone helped to decorated our tree with these and it looks lovely.
Over the past week, Class 2 have been learning about the reasons behind us wearing a poppy at this time of year. They painted beautiful poppies on rocks and laid them at the Cenotaph. On Remembrance Day at 11.00am, Class 2 held a ceremony at Hamsterley Cenotaph. The children all sang songs, spoke about why we have a Remembrance Day and laid our school wreath on the Cenotaph. All of the children were very respectful during the 2-minute silence.
Lest we forget.
